Chobham Business Club chairman Tricia Matthews hands over a cheque to Gordon Parris, of the Children’s Needs charity, with Ian Taylor (business club), Foxhills senior manager Jean Marc Willems, Ruth Keighley (business club), Foxhills’ Simon Payne and the business club’s Martin Scovell and Peter Coxhead.

A CHILDREN’S charity had plenty to celebrate when the business community presented it with a hefty cheque.

More than £1,200 was raised during a Chobham Business Club lunch, which was gratefully received by the Children With Special Needs Foundation last week.

Business club chairman Tricia Matthews said: “We held a Christmas lunch at Foxhills in Addlestone which was a fundraiser for the charity.

“We raised exactly £1,205, which was a high amount, the most we have raised for any concern. We had some very generous donations for the auction prizes like wine, theatre tickets and a meal for two at Foxhills’ manor house.

"It was a brilliant event and we had a few well-known faces like comedian Tom O’Connor and Kim from 96.4 Eagle radio.”

CWSNF founder Gordon Parris said: “We were extremely grateful for the donation, we certainly appreciate the support the members and guests gave us.

“The money will be used on a community project and we will have a meeting in two weeks to decide which one.”

Mr Parris added: “Every donation is important because it goes to children with special needs and trying to get them to lead as normal a life as possible costs money.

“The good thing about this charity is that there are no admin costs and all the money goes directly to the children.”
