Village plans for the future

RESIDENTS in one village are preparing plans for how they want to see their area protected in the future.

The Chobham Village Design Statement studies the history of the area, its present situation and what it wants to be in the future.

It also focuses on the environment of Chobham and how the traffic and planning applications could impact on the village in the future.

The group has been split into five areas: environment, history, community, traffic, and future development and built environment.

Richard Roads, who is involved in the project, said: “Planning for the future needs to take into account what it is that makes Chobham special — its societies, activities, facilities and what it is deficient in to help plan for the future of our village.”

Project members are devising a questionnaire which will be distributed to businesses and associations to seek views on how the village should develop.

They are hoping to have a document ready for public consultation in July and it will then be forwarded to Surrey Heath Borough Council for approval.

The group is applying for £250 to help it continue with the project.
