Renovating scout HQ

A SCOUT group in Camberley is hoping to update a building after making do with its temporary home for more than 30 years.

The building is used most days of the week by more than 60 young people who are members of 4th Camberley Scout Group. It also houses equipment for all scouts in the Surrey Heath district.

The building was opened in 1975 after an arson attack on their original headquarters and was only meant to last 25 years.

Robin Rowlands, from Surrey Heath Scouts, said: “Although the building has passed its ‘sell-by’ date and is overdue for replacement, conditions can be greatly improved by a number of schemes.

“Our aim is to help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as
individual, responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international community.

The group has applied for £6,200 to carry out the update.
