Mr John Bishop

A MAN who provided a friendly face as he welcomed new life into the world, joined happy couples together and gave a fitting farewell to those who passed away, has died.

Mr Bishop, from Kingfield Close,  was married to Lillian who died last year .

John Bishop, 88, was the minister at Trinity Methodist Church and although he retired 23 years ago, he was still actively involved in church life.

Bob Sneddon, who is the reverend at the church in Brewery Road, said: “He gave loyal service over the years and having lived here for more than 30 years, he knew everyone and watched them grow.”

Mr Bishop’s funeral will take place at Trinity Methodist church tomorrow (Friday) at 11.45am.
